Healthcare Stole the Show at the Internet of Things Community 3rd Annual IoT Slam Live 2019 Conference

Elite IoT Thought leaders and practitioners met June 20-21 in Research Triangle Park, (RTP), North Carolina, and online, to discuss, present, and share real-world IoT uses-cases and best practices at the IoT Community’s 9th IoT Slam conference. The healthcare vertical was front and center, due to both the promise and the enormous challenges facing IoT adoption. If you missed the event, watch the replay here.

The event marked the IoT Community’s 9th international IoT conference, and its third live in-person event in RTP. This event provided the global IoT ecosystem with a unique opportunity to learn from expert innovative practitioners about best practices for enterprises designing, securing, developing, and shaping the future of the IoT landscape.

Jim Sabogal of T-Systems gave a fantastic presentation on "How the Internet of Things (IoT) meets the needs of the US Drug Supply Chain"

John Gresham, Vice President at Cerner Corporation, delivered and insightful keynote on how planning for a real-time health system – as part of an intelligent health network – will allow healthcare delivery organizations to transform and thrive.

 Zebra Technologies' senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Jeff Schmitz presented IoT’S Answers for Healthcare's Fundamental Challenges.

IBM Fellow & IoT Community Advisory Board member, Mac Devine's presentation, CURING HEALTHCARE’S IT ISSUES VIA OPEN SOURCE, DE-CENTRALIZED AI, detailed a tectonic shift in healthcare IT!

Lisa Gulker from Cerner explained how IoT can solve some of the most pervasive problems in acute care.

Also on the docket was not one, but two all-star panel discussions focused on healthcare IoT strategies. Panelists included: Dr. Mark Wolff (Chief Health and Life Science Analytics Strategist for the SAS Global IoT Division), Richard Montmeny (Chief Operating Officer and Site Administrator for St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital), Dr. William D.
